Winstar was my first time. The venue was very nice except for the gagging smell of smoke where the gamblers are. John's voice was very raspy. His band was very good, the violin player was amazing and the accordion player was great too. I expected more than an hour & 15 mins' for over $75 after fees. Amit Tandon was enjoyable. But from what my two friends said, who have been to Winstar before, there was never a 'warm-up' act. That took away time that Mellencamp could and should have been on. If that was the case, then I applaud him for still going on, but he wasn't as good as I expected. He seemed to be sweating more than any other of the band members, which made us wonder if he was perhaps not well? He also evidently put in requests that the bar in the venue not be open, not a big deal to me, but the two TV monitors on either side of the stage which were on for the warm-up were not on. Was that another request from him? It would have been nice to be able to see more up close shots from the nose-bleed area I was sitting. All in all, I enjoyed myself but it could have been better. And no encore!!!!!!!!!
